Events:

Science@FELs 2016, Trieste, Italy 5-7.Sep.2016
Science@FELs 2016 will focus on the scientific highlights achieved during the last years in the fast evolving development and operation lasers sources that are enabling experiments to shorter wavelengths, adding element and chemical state specificity by exciting and probing electronic transitions from core levels.

Faraday Discussion on Ultrafast Imaging of Photochemical Dynamics 31.Aug.2016
The purpose of this meeting is to gather key participants who represent the full scientific scope of ultrafast imaging and photochemical dynamics. Bringing together different communities of experimentalist and theoreticians working on similar topics but from different perspectives provides an opportunity to ask the fundamental questions and to set the agenda for future research. The meeting will be used to identify how new techniques can complement each other, while addressing specific areas of contention and controversy, and asking; Is the field reaching a point where the fundamental guiding principles of photochemistry can be established?

Coherence 2016 7-10.Jun.2016
The International Workshop on Phase Retrieval and Coherent Scattering, now a biennal conference, first took place first at Lawrence Berkeley Lab. in May 2001 and is traditionally held in a waterside location (Palm Cove, Porquerolles, Asilomar, Warnemüde Fukuoka, and Evanston).

A team of French researchers has gathered around synchrotron-SOLEIL to organize this 2016 edition. As for the previous editions, the topics addressed will be coherent imaging, structure and dynamics, theorical and computational methods and progress in new X or XUV sources, from high brilliance synchrotron to X-ray free electron lasers. Further details are available here

Meeting on applications of ultrafast and high brightness X-rays 2.Mar.2016
The Blackett Laboratory, Imperial College London, will host this years meeting on applications of ultrafast and high brightness X-rays.

Workshop on Imaging with Femtosecond Electrons and X-ray Pulses (IFEXS), Trieste, Italy 1-3.Feb.2016
The latest achievements in ultrafast electron and X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy and imaging have enabled to follow the evolution of a variety of systems during phase transitions, structural transformations and chemical reactions.

The scope of the workshop is to discuss the next frontier of ultrafast science regarding the advances of both electrons and photons based techniques with a special focus on the necessary cross-feeding between them. Emphasis will be put on the complementary aspects of ultrafast electron microscopy and X-FEL based diffractive imaging techniques and on the future perspective of broadening the applicability of these tools by considering X-rays also as a chemically selective photo excitation and combining fs-X-ray beams with fs electron beams in an ad hoc modified Transmission Electron Microscope.
